Growing & Maintenance Tips for Prunus cerasus 'Cutie Pie'

"Cutie Pie" was released on the 100th anniversary of horticulture at the Univerity of Saskatchewan. In the 1940s Les Kerr interbred Mongolian sour cherries (Prunus fruticosa) and European Sour cherries (Prunus cerasus) and donated the collection to the Univesity of Saskatchewan. This "Cutie Pie" was selected for being unusually dwarf, sweet, with a bright red cherry. It suckers, forms a tight hedge, and is very hardy. This could make a showy hedge plant for landscaping, with it's nice white flowers in spring.
