Growing & Maintenance Tips for Hanging Basket: Mixed Sun & Petunias

Keep soil evenly moist

We recommend fertilizing these hanging baskets weekly with a balanced fertilizer like 20-20-20. Adding a slow release fertilizer on top of the soil is also recommended if weekly fertilizing is not practical. Follow manufacturers instructions for rates.

Check plants for aphids regularly and use your favorite method of aphid control. Insecticidal soap can work well when there are only a few aphids but may have to be done weekly or bi-weekly. Catching the aphids early will help get your basket through the summer.

Remove spent flowers weekly to keep baskets looking fresh. If the petunias or trailers get too long for your liking, you may cut them back. This will keep them stocky and strong and stimulate compact fresh new growth.
