Growing & Maintenance Tips for Hanging Basket: Calibrachoa
Thrives in a part sun to full sun location.
Keep protected from the wind.
Keep soil evenly moist. Do not let these baskets become dry! They do not have the capacity to bounce back like some other plants. Full sun locations will need more water than part sun locations so keep this in mind when finding the perfect spot for your basket.
We recommend fertilizing Calibrachoa hanging baskets weekly with a balanced fertilizer like 20-20-20. Adding a slow release fertilizer on top of the soil is also recommended if weekly fertilizing is not practical. Follow manufacturers instructions for rates.
Check plants for aphids regularly and use your favorite method of aphid control. Insecticidal soap can work well when there are only a few aphids but may have to be done weekly or bi-weekly. Catching the aphids early will help get your basket through the summer.
Deadheading is not required.
Some varieties of calibrachoa baskets tend to get flat on top. Trimming can encourage new growth and help these areas to fill in.
